End of play

A derelict cricket pavilion and overgrown pitch deep in the Hertfordshire countryside. Abandoned, fading echoes of tea-time cuppas and pints, and tall stories. Dim shadows of players and onlookers. All out for… ever.

In 1914, Kenneth H Ashley wrote a poignant poem entitled Close of Play.
